Financial planning

Get a helping hand to make the most of your money with financial advice tailored to your needs.

Make the most of your money, whatever your stage in life

If you're an HSBC customer with £25,000 or more to invest, our wealth advisers can help you plan your savings and investments to meet your future goals.

How could a financial review help?

How you manage your money today could have a big impact on your future. No matter how financially savvy you are, a financial review gives you space to reflect on where you'd like to be in 5, 10, or even 20 years' time, and how best to get there.

Whether you're looking for a comfortable retirement, to give your children the best start in life, or you simply want to make the most of your disposable income, we can help. You'll benefit from the support of an expert wealth adviser who'll work with you to find savings and investment options tailored to your goals.

How it works

Reviewing your finances with one of our experts can be the first step in planning your future.

Our reviews follow these steps:

Get to know you

Your adviser will discuss your circumstances, your future goals and will assess the level of risk you're comfortable with. They'll also explain the cost involved for financial advice.

Build a plan

After assessing your needs and risk profile, your adviser will make recommendations [@financial-recommendations-assessed-needs] and create your bespoke financial planning report.

Follow up

Your adviser will arrange a follow-up meeting to talk through the recommendations, answering any further questions you may have.

Action your plan

If you're happy to proceed, complete and return your documents (you can do this online) and your Wealth Manager will put your plan into action.

Ongoing support

Once we've set up your investment portfolio, your Wealth Manager doesn't stop offering advice and support.

Changes in life happen - a promotion, moving house, starting a family or taking early retirement. Our understanding of your situation and approach to investing means we're best placed to help manage your portfolio. We offer regular reviews, so we can check your investments are on target.

You can always call your Wealth Manager to discuss your portfolio and check how your investments are performing. You can also review your balances online with our International Investment Centre.

Our nominee service

Your investments will be held in our nominee service[@nominee-service-admin] which streamlines the process of buying and selling. You'll be able to:

  • Apply for investments and transfer assets with minimal paperwork
  • Instruct us to buy or sell funds via your Wealth Manager, or online with our International Investment Centre
  • Have a single point of contact for your investment transactions
  • Consolidate your mutual fund investments for a portfolio view
  • See the value of your portfolio in the International Investment Centre

Additional information

Please remember that the value of investments, and any income received from them, can fall as well as rise, is not guaranteed and you may not get back the amount you invested. This could also happen as a result of changes in currency exchange rates, particularly where overseas securities are held or where investments are converted from one currency to another. We always recommend that any investments held should be viewed as a medium to long-term investment, at least five years.
