Credit cards repayment options

Make a payment using the HSBC CI & IoM Mobile Banking app.

(You'll need to have first saved the payee's account details through online banking before making a payment from the app).

1. Under 'Move money' tap 'Pay a company' then select the relevant account.
2. Enter the payment amount.
3. Review the payment and confirm.

Make a payment through online banking.

1. Log on to online banking through your mobile browser, desktop or tablet. If you've paid the company before, you'll find them in 'Move Money' under 'My payees'.
2. If this is the first time, select 'New payee', 'Payee lookup', then type the company name into the 'Find a company' search field. Select your credit card and match the first 6 numbers to your card number (e.g. HSBC PREMIER CARD 542006).
3. Enter your 16-digit card number as the 'Company reference'. For some companies, this could be a different reference number or your account number.
4. Enter the payment amount and confirm the payment.
5. Use the HSBC CI & IoM Mobile Banking app to generate a 6-digit transaction code to confirm your payment.

Find your branch

Your bank will already have our account details. They should have a 'Pay Company' option, or something similar. You'll find our details on the back of your credit card bill.

How to set up or amend a Direct Debit
Choose or amend the amount you pay off your HSBC Credit Card each month, change the account you pay from, or the payment type you use.

Fill out the Direct Debit mandate

1. Print off and complete the Direct Debit mandate (PDF)
2. Drop off the form at your nearest HSBC Branch or post to:

If you send the mandate by post, it'll take up to 10 working days from when we receive it for us to process it. Your Direct Debit will take effect from the date of your next statement, provided your payment date is not within the next three days.

How to cancel a Direct Debit

If you are registered for online banking:

1. Log on to online banking.

2. Select the account that the Direct Debit is set up on.

3. Select the 'Manage' menu.

4. Select 'Direct Debits'

5. Find the Direct Debit for your HSBC Credit Card.

6. View more information, then select 'Cancel'.

If you're not registered for online banking:

Call us on 03456 00 61 61 or visit your local branch.

What happens next?

When you cancel a Direct Debit via online banking, it will take effect immediately. However, if the Direct Debit is due in the next three working days it will still be collected.

You'll need:

• IBAN Number
• sort code
• account number
• Reference (This would be your 16 digit credit card number)

These can be found at the back of your credit card statement.

Updating of available credit and interest calculations dependent on international payment processing times in the country of origin. Once received payments will be credited within 3 working days.

It depends on the type of Direct Debit you have set up, and when you are looking to make the additional payment.

I have a Direct Debit to collect the minimum amount:
If you choose to make an additional payment before the Direct Debit is collected, then your minimum Direct Debit payment will still be made, unless this amount takes your account into credit. In these circumstances, the Direct Debit would be adjusted to ensure the account does not go into credit.

I have a Direct Debit to collect the full amount:
If you make an additional payment before the Direct Debit is collected, then your Direct Debit payment will reduce accordingly, ensuring that overall you only pay the full amount required.

I have a Direct Debit to take a fixed amount:
If you choose to make an additional payment before the Direct Debit is collected, then your fixed Direct Debit payment will still be made, unless this amount takes your account into credit. In these circumstances, the Direct Debit would be adjusted to ensure the account does not go into credit.

Please note that any additional payment made within 3 working days of your Direct Debit date will not affect your Direct Debit amount as the request will already have been sent to your bank.

You'll then receive confirmation via post or within 'My messages' in your online banking. Until then, you can make a one-off payment to your HSBC Credit Card.

Direct Debits are collected 3 days before the payment due date. This is to ensure there's enough time to make a payment by alternative means if any issues occur.

The Direct Debit will not leave the account until the due date and will show as 'pending' for the 3-day period.

To change the date of your Direct Debit payment due date, call us on 03456 00 61 61*.

Your Direct Debit will be returned by your bank and you'll need to make a payment by the due date. Returned payments may incur charges. We may also contact you to discuss the returned payment.

If you choose to make an additional payment before the Direct Debit is collected, then your fixed Direct Debit payment will still be made, unless this amount takes your account into credit. In these circumstances, the Direct Debit would be adjusted to ensure the account does not go into credit.

Please note that any additional payment made within 3 working days of your Direct Debit date will not affect your Direct Debit amount as the request will already have been sent to your bank.

Credit Card agreements made before 23 March 2011

£5 or 2.5% of the balance, depending on which is higher, or if less than £5, your statement balance.

Credit Card agreements made on or after 23 March 2011

Interest, default charges and any payment protection insurance premium plus 1% of the principal, or 2.5% of the balance, or £5, depending on which is higher, or if less than £5, your statement balance.

If a statement balance is not paid in full, you'll be charged interest at the rate indicated on your monthly statement.

Additionally, we’ll allocate your payment to the outstanding balance in the following order:

• cash advances
• purchases and standard rate balance transfers
• promotional rate purchases and balance transfers (full details are set out in your terms and conditions)

The way in which payments are allocated can make a significant difference to the amount of interest you'll pay until the balance is cleared.
