  • The home is not to be used as a holiday home or weekend home.

Your quotation and policy will be based on you answering Yes to all the above assumptions and any other questions that we may ask you in the process of obtaining a quotation and buying this policy. Before you continue to obtain a quotation, we advise that you read the following important information relating to our policies.

FAQ's

What is a valuable?
We class valuables as stamps, coin or medal collections, pictures, other works of art, items of gold, silver or any other precious metals, jewellery, watches and furs.

There is a single item limit of £1,500 so you will need to let us know about anything valued above that.

What’s the difference between Limited and Extra accidental damage?

The main differences are:

  • While Limited Accidental Damage cover is included as standard in your policy, Extra Accidental Damage cover is optional;
  • Buildings cover:
  • Limited will cover you for accidental damage to your cables, underground pipes, fixed glass and sanitary fittings;
  • Extra also provides cover for destruction or damage caused accidentally to the rest of your buildings, e.g. putting your foot through the ceiling, or nail through a pipe, and is in addition to the limited buildings cover provided under 'limited' above.
  • Contents cover:
  • Limited will cover certain items for accidental damage, such as audio/visual equipment, receiving aerials and dishes, desktop computers and non-portable game consoles, in the home. It also covers mirrors and fixed glass in furniture.
  • Extra will cover most other incidents, e.g. spilled red wine on the sofa or coffee over your laptop, or dropped ornaments or other breakables, and is in addition to the limited contents cover provided under 'limited' above.

Is my laptop covered under Limited accidental damage?

No. To have your laptop protected you will need to select the full accidental damage cover in the home option, and if you want the laptop protected away from the home you need to take out the optional personal belongings cover.

Do I pay an excess if I claim?

Yes, you will pay the first part of the claim. The amount is detailed on your schedule.

What cover would I need to protect my belongings away from the home?

If you select personal belongings cover this will protect the items you normally wear or carry with you anywhere in the world for loss and damage. You have the option of cover between £2,000 and £10,000.

There is a single item limit of £1,500 so you will need to let us know about anything valued above that limit.

  • While Limited Accidental Damage cover is included as standard in your policy, Extra Accidental Damage cover is optional;
  • Buildings cover:
  • Limited will cover you for accidental damage to your cables, underground pipes, fixed glass and sanitary fittings;
