An approved energy efficiency purpose includes:
- double glazing installation on a residential property
- thermal insulation installation in a residential property
- purchase of electric or hybrid cars
- solar panels installation on a residential home
- purchase of a new boiler for a residential home with an efficiency rating of A
- any other purpose for which we have agreed in advance in writing
Please note: This excludes HSBC UK, M&S Bank, First Direct and HSBC Expat. For the second criteria, in the case of a joint account, at least one of the parties must have an individual annual income of at least £75,000. The investment, life insurance or protection products also includes those purchased through one of HSBC's advisers.
To be eligible for an HSBC Personal Loan, you need to:
- have an HSBC current account
- have an annual income/pension before tax of £10,000 or more
- be over 18 and a resident of the Channel Islands or Isle of Man
Not available for customers with a Basic Bank Account.
We do not offer Personal Loans for a number of purposes including:
- buying property or land, including holiday homes and apartments
- buying a joint stake in a property or buying out a joint owner
- mortgage deposit (regardless of lender or country)
- gifting funds to third parties to support the purchase of a property, including mortgage deposit, stamp duty and solicitors' fees
- gambling
- business purposes
- share dealing or investments
